 Arkansas Striper.....

The ultimate fish for me.  What a magnificent fish to catch!

There is no doubt when the line starts feeding against the drag at a high rate of speed....

.....you've got one of those bad boys taking the bait and life is about to get real exciting.

Your heart races. You grab the pole and set the hook.  The fight is on.....

For the past 16 years I've enjoyed catching:

Big Catfish on the Ohio River (Cairo, Illinois)

     Walleye on Lake Vermillion (Minnesota)

Sailfish & Dorado (Puerto Quepos, Costa Rica)

in Missouri & Arkansas... whatever is biting and in season....

......largemouth, kentucky, whites, hybrids, channel cat, crappie, rainbows, and ..........

              .........especially striper!

Back at the beginning...

Been fishing since I could hold a pole.....there is something about fishing that gets in your blood and won't go away.   We moved a lot when I was young....Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Kentucky, etc.  A worm or cricket or whatever bait you can scare up would do back then.  Of course, you might have to beat off a cottonmouth in order to land a small bluegill in some places....which you never told mom about, if you know what I mean.   Hooking, grabbing, jugging....whatever and however you've just got to fish when the fishing bug bites you.

Be it the windy wet cold of winter, the hot calm of summer heat, or the perfect 70 degree sunny day....it is fishing time somewhere.

It's been said that they call it fishing, not catching.  True, the best fisherman can be skunked, there is never a guarantee.  Fish are not always the most cooperative of creatures.  However, with knowledge, study and a little instinct you can vastly increase your odds of catching success.  Regardless, I've found that even a bad day of fishing is (like they also say) still a really good day.   Fresh air and open water....what a wonderful office in which to work.

In the early nineties I married and settled down to stay in the Ozarks.  Border hopping between Missouri and Arkansas, I have enjoyed fishing and catching the many species that live in the rivers and lakes of our beautiful area.  Our weather varies so much that to really catch fish you have to know when, where, and what bait the fish you want are biting.  And like the weather...they'll be changing.  It takes time, trial and error to develop a working knowledge of fish patterns, in addition to a "feel" for fish.  Norfork Lake is a huge blessing to our area.  The striper of Lake Norfork are big and hungry.  It's time to be in the boat and on the lake....baits down and ready to rumble.  It's time to fight another big one.
